Award win for Kirribilli project

Late last year, Andrew and Giles from our office attended the Polytec Design Awards 2017 and brought home an award for Bijl’s recently completed Kirribilli project, “Doorzien House”.

This elegant, deconstructed Federation house is both big picture – light-filled, curated sightlines and framed Sydney Harbour views – and meticulous detailing.

Through integrated joinery, Bijl achieved the client’s brief for private and on-show storage, doubling existing capacity in the home. We employed an understated, dark foundation palette to work in concert with the larger architectural narrative, and specified a modest yet hard-working material to achieve this seamless outcome.

We congratulate owners Bob and Sharon on their award. Bijl Architecture is grateful for the opportunity to add a layer of architectural history to their beautiful Sydney home. Thank you also to Adam and Kobe from bespoke joiners, JP Finsbury.

Doorzien will feature in the April edition of Habitus magazine.
