We’re well-rounded creatives at Bijl Architecture, so it makes perfect sense we would be pitting our musical chops against a slew of talented peers at Sydney’s annual industry battle-of-the-bands, Construction Rocks, at Oxford Art Factory on August 16.
Spandrel is our very nerdy architectural name and, while this might sound a bit like Spandau Ballet, we can assure you, 80s arena rock, Oz rock and millennial epic rock are our game. This much is true.
Vocals will be led, along with keyboard jams, by Bijl Director, Melonie Bayl-Smith; guitar and back-up vocals come from our long-suffering IT guy, Piers Bayl-Smith; bass thwocking and back-up vocals abound in Andrew Derbidge’s direction (our good friend and Director at Partridge); and newly registered architect and CAD aficionado, Giles Gibbins, will be on the skins.
Tickets will sell out, so get in quick to cheer on our crew as we crumple the likes of structural origami and rock specialists, Shigeru Band, all in support of our nominated charity, The Wayside Chapel. Spandrel for the win!!!
