East Jindabyne dual occupancy

A new dual occupancy at the foot of the Snowy Mountains at Jindabyne is underway for BIJL Architecture. We’re creating two new homes for a local builder, with the site located in a new subdivision on the outskirts of this year-round holiday destination.

Being the first built project in a new subdivision brings responsibility and opportunity. We want to set a high bar for strong, compelling identities for these homes, and the development, while complying with local planning regulations and our client’s commercial objectives.

The homes must also have wide market appeal and be robust and comfortable in a challenging climate. Jindabyne experiences light snowfalls over winter and an average high of 16.5 degrees Celsius!

Drawing from the landscape through material selection and form, we have designed clean crisp facades for the homes with distinctive pitched roofs and stone feature walls, referencing nearby Lake Jindabyne’s rocky shoreline.

While some outdoor living needs to be accommodated, most of the living areas we’ve elevated to the first level to make the most of extended views to the Crackenback Range through wide-span double glazing. We’ve imagined the perfect place to sit back and enjoy the landscape in year-round comfort.

Drawings are underway to prepare East Jindabyne for its development application.
